Because We Vary our Schedule from Year to Year This Workshop is Not Currently Scheduled To See What Else We Have to Offer
With Lake Country of England Extension
Wales: Wednesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 17, 2007 Lake Country: Thursday, May 17 through Sunday, May 20, 2007
Sponsored by the Tennessee Aquarium
A roaring red dragon is the emblem of Wales, reflecting its unique heritage as a proud and ancient nation that has survived external threat. But don't expect dragons on our trip to this gorgeous and serene land full of hospitable Celts! Wales is a place to get away from the pressures of daily life — to relax, walk, think, and capture memorable photographic images of its rich landscapes and character. The Welsh are typical Celts, friendly and proud, with a cultural heritage and an ancient celebrated language all their own.
We will make a leisurely circle tour of this beautiful country, allowing us plenty of time to visit and photograph this land of tremendous contrasts. We will explore fertile valleys dotted with castles, the rugged mountains of Snowdonia National Park, interesting old fishing towns such as Tenby with its mix of mediaeval and Georgian houses in pastel colors with seascapes and islands offshore, and historic abbeys. We have chosen May to visit Wales because of the spectacular gardens with azaleas and other late spring flowers. We will also take a ride on one of the steam engines of the scenic Ffestiniog Railway, the oldest independent railway company in the world.
We will also be offering an optional extension to the Lake District of England. The Lake District is best known for its lake-land scenery amidst mountains rising to 3,000 feet. Near Keswick lies Borrowdale, regarded as one of the prettiest valleys in the shadow of Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak. Other possibilities include stone circles and beautiful gardens. We may even take in a festival if there is one nearby.
As with all the British Isles, the weather is everchanging so we will keep our itinerary flexible to take advantage of weather and light.
