Ireland: Friday, May 18 to Monday, May 28, 2012 (Offered in conjunction with Strabo Tours)
After skipping Ireland for three years, we are anxious to return for our 9th trip to the still unspoiled west coast. On this trip we intend to return to our original itinerary, spending the entire time in the area around Westport, mostly in County Mayo. There is so much to see on our day trips from our base at Hillcrest House. We look forward to returning to the scenic Clew Bay, perhaps with a boat ride to one of the islands off the coast, to Achill Island with its rugged coastline, and to Connemara with it’s rolling hills, often shrouded with mist. With a little luck maybe the yellow gorst bushes will be in bloom. Then there are the people, the cottages, and the remains of the abbey’s and their Celtic crosses, some with the famous round towers. Westport itself has many colorful photo opportunities. Our Irish friend and guide, Olcan Masterson, will entertain you with his wit and his music. And there are always our unscheduled stops and special events that are going on while we’re there. If you have been to Ireland, you will want to return as we have, if you haven’t been, it is a good destination to have on your bucket list.

International flights tend to leave in the evening and arrive the following day. Please note, the 18th of May is the day you will be leaving the US. We will be meeting you the morning of the 19th. Some people like to arrive a day early so they are fresh and ready to go when Olcan meets us early on the 19th.
